Want to delete Telegram? Although this app may seem a bit "mysterious", deleting your account is actually not difficult—it’s just that the option isn’t found inside the app and is a bit hidden. Here are a few ways to delete your Telegram account.

✅ Method 1: Manual Deletion (Official Recommendation)

Telegram does not provide a direct "Delete Account" button in the app, so you’ll need to visit a dedicated webpage.

Steps:

  1. Go to this link: https://my.telegram.org/auth

  2. Enter your phone number (be sure to include the country code, e.g., +86 for mainland China)

  3. Telegram will send a verification code message to your Telegram app—not via SMS!

  4. Enter the code on the website

  5. After logging in, click "Delete Account"

  6. Follow the instructions to confirm — your account, messages, contacts, and groups will all be deleted permanently and cannot be recovered!

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • Once deleted, all your chat history is gone, and the account cannot be recovered.

  • If you register again using the same phone number, it will be treated as a brand new account—just like a newborn.

  • If you only want a break, there’s no need to delete your account. You can simply log out or uninstall the app.

✅ Method 2: Auto-Deletion (Set Inactivity Period)

You can set a time period (e.g., 1 month, 3 months, 6 months...), and if you don’t log in during that time, Telegram will automatically delete your account.

How to Set It:

  1. Open the Telegram App

  2. Tap the menu icon (on Android) or go to "Settings" (on iOS)

  3. Navigate to Privacy and Security

  4. Find Delete my account if away for...

  5. Choose a time period (up to 1 year)

That’s it! You can leave it alone, and Telegram will take care of the deletion for you.
